Russell Fire Department incorporated

Fire station built by volunteer firefighters on current site and occupied

Two new GMC pumpers purchased

Rescue squad started 12 hour shifts

1960

Baltimore FD contacted about new procedure called “Closed Chest Massage” (now CPR)

1961

Oxygen powered resuscitators are purchased

1969

New American LaFrance Pioneer pumper purchased

1974

Department members trained as EMT’s by the State of Ohio

1974

Fire station renovated to current design

1976

Rescue squad service started

1977

First two classes of Russell FD members graduate at EMT-Paramedic level

Paramedic equipment (LifePak 5) is purchased for rescue squads
